Hey guys, its been a while since I posted so I wanted to make this next one really special.
I like to introduce you to Mai Gidah for those of you that don’t know.
Mai Gidah is the London-based contemporary menswear brand by Ali (Alec) Abdulrahim, a Ghanian Belgian working in London.
I had been keeping my eye on Mai Gidah for a while now ever since I came across his work at LCM a few seasons ago. I originally spotted one of my peers wearing some of his work and I was impressed with what I saw so much I had to get in touch.
So what I’m wearing here is fromMai Gidah‘s AW16/17 collection which was inspired by the wearing of protective amulets by the Dagomba tribe in Ghana. The collection brings Ochre, Auburn and mud colours to the Mai Gidah pallet where he explores the underlying tones of the spectrum of colours found in Flemish Primitive paintings by Van Eyck and Petrus Christus.
With Mai Gidah I was able to explore and expand my contemporary personal styling side which has always been there but these pieces fromMai Gidah were able to raise this side to another level.
