Visiting Tokyo

I have always wanted to go to Tokyo ever since I was a teen. I have had such a great love for Japanese anime, video games, music and fashion. I was over the moon when I finally had the opportunity to visit Tokyo a few weeks ago. I was out there to cover Tokyo Fashion Week and to meet with creatives, build business connections and view the beautiful city. Visiting was nothing short of an amazing experience. Tokyo Fashion Week felt smaller but full of talent, innovation and creativity, some of my favourites were Tae Ashida, Pachy Cake EaterTaakk to name a few. I also had the opportunity to meet some  Japanese bloggers  such as Yuri Nakagawa and Ma Yu which was great.

I stayed in Keio Plaza based in the Shinjuku. It is a great lavish hotel made up of forty-seven floors, it has fantastic service and all the facilities that you would need and more. There is a twenty-four hour front desk, eleven restaurants, a hotel business centre offering PCs with Internet access. Overall, the hotel was very clean and all the staff were accommodating. I would definitely stay there again. The hotel was minutes away from shopping central and Shinjuku station which is the busiest station in the world. It was great as it was only stops away from most central locations such as Shibuya, Harajuku, Omotesando, Akihabara and Roppongi.

I spent most of my time wandering the streets of Shibuya before and after fashion shows. There were great traditional eating spots and high street shopping in Shinjuku. Harajuku is a super cool for trend spotting, as it was great to see all the experimental styles on show, it also had with great little hang out spots and dessert restaurants. I also made it to the Akihabara, the world of arcade gaming with buildings dedicated to video games. I couldn’t visit Tokyo without having some arcade fun.

Overall Tokyo is a must see destination for everyone. It’s a city full of excitement and I will definitely be visiting again.
