Taakk was one of the brands that I had come across during my time in Tokyo. I had noticed the brand as they had some amazing products whilst exhibiting in the Shibuya Hirakie centre during Tokyo Fashion Week. Taakk is a Japanese brand founded by designer Takuya Morikawa, he introduced his first collection in spring and summer 2013. The concept for this collection is ‘Reality by the Unrealistic”. The collection is made up of menswear that is on classic clothing with a contemporary edge. It is made up of trench coats, blazers with matching trousers and shirts with embroidered stud detailing. The range also features denim with gradation prints, which continues throughout the collection onto bomber jackets and sweat pants. All pieces are executed so well, with eye catching embroidered check patterns over shirt sweats and suiting, which is definitely a bold statement.
Overall, I was pleased to have discovered this brand in Tokyo. The Japanese never fail to surprise and I will be looking forward to when the collection is in stores.
