So, as some of you may know I’m a big fan of movies set in the early 1920’s. The main reason for this being my love for the fashion from that era.

The Great Gatsby Movie is an adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s 1925 novel.

At the height of the roaring twenties the story follows the life of a millionaire by the name of Jay Gatsby, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, and his neighbour Nick Carraway played by Tobey Maguire.

The Great Gatsby is set to be today this and when I was asked to take part in a shoot based on the theme, you can all imagine how super excited and over the moon I was.

I tried to capture 1920s styling but had to raise the bar Gatsby style. For me it was the finishing touches like the imperial collar, waistcoats, hats and two-tone shoes that made the look and are definitely key pieces a gentlemen would have been seen in this era.

Budd shirt makers have just launched their online store. The brand was founded in 1910 and with such longevity it is clear why they know a thing or two about shirt making. You can find them over at Piccadilly Arcade, as one of the few remaining Jermyn Street Shirtmaker’s, and now they aim to bring the best of heritage shirt making to the world wide web.

The site has a sleek minimalist feel, stocking the Budd classic shirts which are all made in the here in the UK. As the brand have remained unchanged since the 1940’s and to celebrate the launch, Budd have introduced their newest shirt; the Budd slim line shirt offering a more modern fit option for the customer.

Budd also offer nightwear and other accessories such as ties, bow ties, pocket square’s, scarves and more.

Inspired by the intricacy and technicality of the bicycle frame, Oliver Sweeney have created a new, contemporary, casual collection working with one of the greatest tanneries in England, Charles F. Stead. only to produce the most fabulous leathers with hi oil content that wear beautifully. With leathers that can only improve with age, denim inspired triple row stitching and the shark’s tooth like detailing around each shoe, which is the welt in reverse, the Compass Collection is truly versatile but unique.

Art Comes First is a collective founded by Sam Lambert and Shaka Maidoh, and as some of you may know these guys are THE menswear fashion moguls.

“The Coal” is the latest project that ACF have been undertaken and to say it is something that must be checked out would be an understatement.

The aim of the project is to examine the interplay between modern craftsmanship and it’s accommodation of genuine function.

ACF have invited creatives from all over the world within their network to help get involved, by collaborating on bespoke stylistic expressions of craft and function as they relate to each contributor’s individual design genre.

The ACF new travel staples consist of:

Eyewear - created together with Lotho’s Aroun Ducroix (Paris/Tokyo).

Hats - developed with Matteo Gioli from Super Duper Handmade Hats (Florence).

Shirt & Tie - produced with Sebastian Dollinger from Eton (Gaanghester).

Shoes & Socks - by the A.C.F. (London).

Scrapbook Journal - crafted with Kalaf Angelo (Lisbon).

Travel Bag - designed with T. Michael (Bergen).

This is a collection of “tools” that make for the complete travelling solution and is everything one would need in a bag.

Spring is here although it doesn’t quite feel like it yet, but in saying that there’s still hope if this weekend is anything to go by and I definitely took full advantage.

The look I’ve put together here was inspired by styling from as early as the late 1800s early 1900’s with a modern touch. It’s a little different than what I would usually go for but that’s what makes things a little more interesting. This look is definitely more of a grown up look, for example the hat I am wearing has a taller crown with a curved brim lending itself to the fedora style. This look is a little out of my comfort zone but I definitely enjoyed experimenting with the look. I also made sure I got hold of this beautiful imperial collar shirt, which is usually worn only at special occasions such as weddings. If you accessorise with a blue cotton tie and a mustard waistcoat this will help the outfit look a little less formal and a little more modern.

Layering is important when you are trying to accomplish this look as not only does it look appealing, it also helps to keep the treacherous UK weather at bay without having to wear a thick jacket!

Now this is the perfect time to do a lil shopping during your easter break but most importantly, you get to party and celebrate your bank holiday weekend in style.

It maybe spring but its still very cold and you can never go wrong with a tweed blazer. It will work with a variety of pieces in a young gents wardrobe.

Grab a collarless shirt to show off that extra bit of detail, tailored trousers and some slightly chunky shoes to throw it off a lil and your good to go.

Happy Easter Guys!

Now this is a stunner!

It’s made from fine lightweight Italian cotton and designed by the one and only Saint Laurent. This polka-dot print shirt is the perfect piece to add to your wardrobe. A statement monochrome piece worn with a black jacket or even in a more casual fashion, either way it will definitely have you looking as sharp as a razor. Not only that, but will be great for spring (when it decides to show up) as it is made from breathable material that is great for layering with.

I’m a big fan of printed shirts! they’re still on trend and it looks like they will be for some time, so get involved.

David Robert Jones was born in Brixton on January 8, 1947. He started out at the age of 13 playing for many bands, then in 1966, he became David Bowie and is now known as a musician, writer, producer,  and actor.

Bowie has been through many style changes over the years and whether he has had a stylist or not he sure looks the part. He is confident and is most definitely striking. Looking at performance images of Bowie from the late 60’s through to the late 80’s, the outfits were very bold and eccentric but he also has a slick sartorial side which is an element that stood out to me. Which ever way you look at it and which ever look he went for, he knew how to wear his clothes.

To this day Bowie is known all over the world by many and is widely regarded as one of the most influential writers of pop music.

Last week I had the privilege of styling all of the 9 coloured Kilties with a selection of different shoes styles for the release of Kilties going in store over the weekend.

For those of you that dont know, The Kiltie is a quirky fringe detail that you attach to your shoe. Its a great accessory that will add a whole new look to your Sweeney shoes.

I styled the Kilties with a mixture of casual and formal shoe styles all from Oliver Sweeney’s SS13 range. During this process I used both matching and contrasting options but it all depends on the shoe colour and shape.

I would recommend that every guy tries these out!
